Therapy and counseling have both proven to be helpful if you feel a desire to change something about yourself as a person, or about the way you handle certain recurring situations in your life. Your wish may have emerged in dealing with a specific event in your life. Or you may feel generally and over a longer period of time that you are incapable to live your life the way you want to. Possible reasons to consider a longer or shorter therapy can be that you are suffering from panic attacks, or something makes you think that you are generally insufficient as a person. You tend to procrastinate or find it really difficult to make a decision. Or something drastic has occured in your life and you have difficulties in dealing with it.
the person-centered approach
The so-called person-centered approach comprises both counseling and psychotherapy. It is based on humanistic psychology and was founded by the US-American psychologist Carl Rogers.
Its main goal is for you to learn to explore your own behavior through my help, to regain your inherent capacity for self-realization, and eventually be able to solve your problems on your own and in accordance with who you are.
