Counseling and therapy, couples counseling, conflict coaching and mediation. These are different methods for different needs. They are all about gaining clarity and enable self-determined development in your own life. With yourself, with your partner and with others.

I am here to support adults and couples of all walks of life in coping with both acute and long-lasting challenges—whether related to anxiety and depression, attachment and relationships, self-image, interactions in friendships and work, or adjusting to new life situations such as separation and loss.
We can speak English and German, my native language is Dutch. I offer appointments on weekends and evenings as well. My office is wheelchair accessible and if you can’t make it to my office, I can come to you or we work online.
I am looking forward to meeting you!
counseling and therapy
Counseling supports you in a difficult situation you are currently facing. This can involve a wide range of topics: adjusting to a new life situation, problems in friendships or family, or difficulties in making decisions. You can also address professional issues here. Counseling typically requires only a few sessions or just a single appointment to explore the background of your concerns and to develop a strategy that will help you manage the situation in the future.
Conversational psychotherapy offers you support in dealing with issues that have been troubling you for a longer period, which may manifest as self-doubt, sadness, anxiety, or panic attacks. In therapy, you have a safe space and more time to explore your feelings. In a protected environment and at your own pace, you reflect on your experiences, and I support you in initiating suitable positive changes.
couples counseling and couples therapy
Is something not quite right in the interaction within your relationship? You feel that love still connects you, but something keeps getting in the way in certain areas of your relationship. You might feel somewhat lonely in the relationship, or you find yourself in the same arguments repeatedly, not really understanding what is going on. Perhaps the fact that you grew up in very different environments plays a role. In bi-national partnerships there are specific dynamics at work, that can easily be underestimated or overlooked.
In couples counseling, we focus on a more specific challenge and provide you with solution-oriented support to figure out how to improve your communication or make a complicated decision, for example.
In emotion-focused couple therapy, we delve deeper into the emotional and psychological issues that burden your relationship, such as a breach of trust or a deeper emotional injury. In couple therapy, we take more time to clarify the underlying causes and gently work together to restore your loving and secure connection.
how we work
In the counseling process, it is important for me to empathize with your position in order to understand your concerns both rationally and emotionally. I work with the so-called person-centered approach, which is based on humanistic psychology. The goal of this approach is for you to learn to explore and examine your behavior on your own. My role as a therapist is to provide you with the space you need to discover which blockages are standing in your way and how you would like to overcome them yourself.

It’s about learning to listen to yourself – to both your words and your body – with my support. This process will guide you towards self-realization, enabling you to shape your life in a self-determined manner and respond to life’s challenges with self-responsibility.
To learn more about the person-centered approach, here you can find extensive information for clients.
how much does it cost?
In short, a single session costs € 90, a 90 minute session for couples costs € 160 and I offer multi-session packages at a lower fee. For those on low income I offer a social fee. For more information on fees look here or contact me.
I run a private practice, which means that my fees are generally not covered by German statutory health insurance. Some private health insurers reimburse you for therapy sessions in compliance with the Heilpraktikergesetz (the German Alternative Practitioner Law). Please check with your insurance provider.

mediation
Mediation is a method for resolving conflicts in various areas of life, including family, friendships, and professional settings. It helps restore disrupted communication and, unlike court proceedings, allows for mutually beneficial solutions.
The goal of mediation is to achieve a consensual, out-of-court resolution through open dialogue about the conflict’s background. The process is confidential and voluntary for all parties involved.
As an independent and impartial mediator, I guide both parties through a structured process in which they propose their own solutions, ensuring they are feasible and aligned with their needs. Mediation saves time and money, and can even enhance relationships between the parties.
Mediation can be conducted by one or two mediators. I am part of a network of qualified mediators in Berlin and can facilitate sessions in person or online, in my space or in a space of your choice.
If you’re interested in mediation, we will start with a free preliminary meeting to determine if it’s suitable for everyone. We will discuss terms, costs, and schedule the first session, typically requiring three to five sessions of about 90 minutes each, depending on the dispute’s complexity.
conflict-coaching
Conflict coaching provides support for managing disputes, especially when the other party is unwilling or unable to cooperate. Such conflicts can create insecurity and disrupt other areas of your life.
Through conflict coaching, you’ll identify actionable aspects of the conflict and learn to navigate those that feel overwhelming. You’ll gain clarity on your perspective, enabling you to approach the situation with confidence.
While conflict coaching doesn’t aim to resolve disputes—since that requires cooperation from both sides—it helps you clarify your relationship with the conflict and those involved. Often, a conflict can improve when one party gains a better understanding and adopts a more independent mindset.
